Kent Smith
Kent Smith is an award-winning director who started out as a photographer capturing images of some of the most prestigious people and companies in the world. He has worked with some incredible talent over the years including Claire Danes, Barack Obama, John Elway, Peyton Manning, Michael Jordan, Brendan Gleeson, Mandy Patinkin, Damian Lewis, Evan Peters, Patrick Fugit, Lenny Kravitz, Justin Long, Liev Schreiber, Jon Voight and Haley Joel Osment. Kent has worked for Showtime, HBO, Under Armour, Shell, Electrolux, Bank of America, Pepsi, Food Lion, and many more.
In the early years, he worked in the sports world as a photographer for Topps Trading Cards creating portraits for some of the most substantial sports figures in the NFL and NBA, as well as capturing them during live action sporting events around the college and the pros levels. Since then he has added diversity to his award-winning resume; so he decided to become the team photographer for the Charlotte Hornets, Carolina Panthers, and Carolina Hurricanes.
He had long been a student of the art of telling a story from a cinematic standpoint, so he decided to pursue a career in the moving pictures. The first feature film that he directed, The Last Passport, went on to win Best Director and Best Actor at the Solstice Film Festival in Minneapolis. His longing for more knowledge leads him to work with some of the best directors, writers, and producers. This path has set him on a course to be part of some of the most fantastic tv shows including Homeland, Outcast, Six and on Mr. Mercedes. He has also worked on many different feature films including Max, Tusk, Racing Dreams and American Animals and many more. He is currently working on his film projects including two feature films and a documentary, as well as numerous commercials.
With over 25+ years of experience in telling stories, Kent has developed a style to make people comfortable in front of the camera. He enters into every project with unabashed enthusiasm and integrity. While capturing branding and advertising campaigns for some of the most important companies in the world, he has developed an eye for creating the image that will last for a lifetime.
He lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, but travels all over the world for assignments including New York and Los Angeles.
